Greetings ladies and gentlemen! Wakai is back on WordPress.com after a pretty long anime hiatus. Having been out of the review business for almost a year now, I hope to return for at least a longer time period than my abysmal year that was 2015. Check after the page break for my future plans to include more content for more things!
== Anime Reviews ==
The main goal of this blog in the past was to recommend different anime series. However, the problem was that I was unclear as who my audience was. Part of my reviews assumed viewers had not seen the series and avoided spoilers while the other assumed they had to discuss concepts and themes. Ultimately, this led to long-winded reviews that were not only difficult to read but also difficult to write.
Now, anime reviews will be split into two post types. The first will be written more as recommendations. These Quickies will be short and concise, designed to give you 1) the bare minimum, general idea of what to expect and what not to expect from the series, 2) a brief summary of why I do or do not recommend the series, and 3) the raw set of impressions from immediately ending the show. They give little, if any, spoilers to let readers decide for themselves if a series is worth their time. Because they are so short, Quickies will also be the main type of post here at YouthfulLaughter, releasing on a weekly basis.
On the other hand, Reviews will be similar to previous reviews in that they will discuss interesting concepts and ideas from the show. Before the page break, it will have a mini-Quickie of its own so readers who have not seen it can decide to watch it. If a series gets a review, assume it to be recommend worthy. Therefore, Reviews will be reserved for more meaningful discussion of deeper series. They will be released on a series basis and replaces the Quickie of that week.

Besides anime content, the blog will host content for a favorite game of mine, Shadowverse. Essentially Hearthstone with less RNG and an anime art style, Shadowverse is a pretty complicated and upcoming digital card game I absolutely adore and wish to share with readers! Check out the Shadowverse introduction for tips on how to best start this free-to-play card game. Look forward to more guides and videos!
Shadowverse content will be published on a bi-weekly basis with the first introduction scheduled for July 29th.
It’s good to be back.
